Last few days of 2009...

2009 is coming to the end soon... Have you achieved all your resolutions this year? As for me, I'm kinda met most of my goals this year.. Completed Hons year with decent results, traveled to Brissy-GC and WA, received lots of great pressie from minghao (I wan more still!! hahaaa), etc..

Got a job offer, which I gladly took up a few weeks ago.. What a great way to end 2009... Just received the letter of offer today.. I finally secured a job within my scope and will be doing the stuff that I enjoy most.. Reasonable pay as well!! Can't ask anything more than that..

Will start working on the 11th Jan.. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the free time I have now to the max!! Will be touching down in Spore in 2 days time and going back to my hometown on the next day.. Can't wait!! ♥♥

Laid out some major plans for the next few years.. Hope 2010 will be a good (if not better) year as well!!

SIA - The 'backstage'

SIA - known for their excellent service and airline.. That's what people usually see... But, what is it like behind the curtain.. Eg: their customer service call centre..

Called the cs centre few days back to enquire about the charges for changing the flight dates.. An indian guy picked up the call and start asking me stuff (which is fine of course).. As expected he addressed me as mdm (which is normal).. But why the hell he address me as MR LAH when he got to know my surname... I wanted to tell him - hey!! mdm and MR doesn't come together!! Wake up your idea!! -_-|||

I'm posting this up just to share my experience and not condemning the airline... Just thought that they should look into their operators and make sure they are at least equipped with proper English before speaking to us...

Short note on Perth trip

Back from Perth.. I would say the trip is FATTENING!! This is no help at all when I've already gained kilos from a month of writing.. Minghao starts pointing out my flabby (not that they haven been flabby before) arms and my gigantic thigh.. Oh well, jogging session will be starting this week and I gotta lose some kilos to a thinner build or even maintain my-already plumpy build.. Just dont be too plump larrrrr... aiyo...

Anyway, back to Perth... If you are wondering why is it such a fattening trip, I would say the food in Perth are really good.. Not to mention the steak from the restaurant in our hotel.. We had it twice, mind you... Even the lousiest food we had was from Hog's Breath.. So you can imagine how the food are like there... Perth itself is kinda boring though... I feel in love with Northbridge once I found them from my guidebook... True enough, lots of food, pubs and people!! Much more than the city itself...

Enough abt food, did I mention that I like the public transport there as well? The trains are clean unlike Melbourne ones.. And they have buses that brings you around the city for free mind you!! They named it Blue, Yellow and Red Cats, each colour brings you to different part of the city... Other than the public transport, there's nothing special about the city... Oh ya, they should have more trees around the city.. It doesnt help at all when it gets really sunny and I can feel my skin burning under the UV light, which I resorted to buying a sunblock lotion at that very moment.. Aside from the public transport, I still prefer Melbourne city ♥

Oh ya, dont forget to drop by King's Park.. Take Jacob's ladder as well just for the experience.. Ermm, not for those who are afraid of heights.. But personally, I don't think that it's anything frightening because it's just a normal staircase with nice view.. Oh well, I would never understand that kind of feeling I think.. Minghao managed to get to the top and snapped some photos.. Good for him... =)))

We also went to Hyden town for Wave Rock.. Unfortunately, it was really HOT on that day... At least 35 degrees I would say.. Nothing spectacular, some unique rocks with lots of flies flying around on that day... It took us 4 hours drive one way just to look at the rocks.. I wouldn't recommend ppl to go despite the unique rocks though.. Not worth the long drive..

Pinnacles is definitely not to be missed.. Minghao got so excited when he found out that he gets to drive around the desert.. I would post a photo of him posing in the middle of the desert (if he allows me to).. We dropped by to look at the stromatolites as well at Lake Thetis (gotta pronounce that properly otherwise you will ended up looking embarrassed).. Amazing I would say.. Not just the stromatolites, having a lake in the middle of nowhere and it is full of stromatolites is definitely amazing.. Cervantes shouldnt be missed as well.. Nice little town, I miss the helpful lady at the tourist information centre.. She brought us (literally) to the wonderful blue beach with soft sand.. I would prefer this beach than Bondi though... Couldn't recall the name of the beach at this moment..

Planned to do some sand-boarding but ended up reaching Lancelin a little bit too late.. Ended up taking some lousy photos of sand dunes.. It looks more amazing in reality instead of through the lens.. Might be coming back again for sand-boarding in the future.. ♥

Might be posting the photos here soon.. Otherwise, in facebook you will find them.. cheers!!

Massive updates at one go!! I've bid Honours goodbye... Thesis submitted, done with defense and received my results.. Nothing spectacular, everything goes as expected...

Back to spore/msia once thesis was submitted. family gathering, KTV fix in msia... As for spore, buddies gathering, soccer fix, foodfood and food, and of course SHOPPING!! Seriously, I only started shopping like mad in Spore ever since I came to Melbourne.. I guess I'm really shopping-deprived ever since I came here.. I'm not implying that the stuff here sucks, it's just that the so-called ambiance is different when you have stretch of shopping centres full of various shops along Orchard Road... Not to mention the neighbourhood shopping centres.. Did I mention that I even resorted to checking in early at T1 changi airport so that I can get the stuff that I've been eyeing for past 6 months in T2? Oh well, the salesgirl then told me that they have a new branch T1.. -_-" But it was quite fun to travel to another terminal though.. with the stinky skytrain... They ought to do something to it... Don't ask me how much I spent in Spore... I wouldn't know and I don't wanna know.. I haven been calculating that so as to skip the "feeling guilty" part.. haha.. It's good that I won't be staying long in Spore for my next coming-back trip.. Otherwise, I could really foresee the madness in me... Oh well, Msia (or more specifically Sitiawan), I'll see you on Christmas.. Will also be embracing 2010 in Sitiawan as well.. That reminds me, it will be my very first New year with Minghao...

As for now, it's job hunting time.. I just hope that I'll secure a job soon.. Otherwise, how to satisfy my shopping fix????? Nah, just put that aside... I need some savings.. Otherwise, it will be 人又老,钱又无 (canto).. And I'll be flying (yes, again) this Friday... To Perth this time round!! Yay!!!

Now I understand why I should take the time off after my thesis submission... Even if I don't wanna rest, my brain will definitely need some rest to restore some of the free space...

And again, 120 140 160 41, IgG1 2 and 3 are all intermingling in my head... I would definitely wanna stop dreaming about my discussion layout and the points... Goodness.. I'm really going crazyyyyyy...

And why Minghao doesnt seem to have all these problems???????? I guess I should stop thinking abt this and give up the free space to the more-important THESIS...

Note to Minghao: I would NEVER EVER wanna do PhD program... Unless you are willing to write up for me when the time comes (of course there will be other terms and conditions) hehe...

Breaking news...

Nope, not getting married or whatsoever....

Will be booking the ticket back to S'pore tonight.. If everything goes well, I will be in S'pore in 3 weeks time.. I love impromtu.... =))))))

Oh well, it started with my supervisor sounded like taking time-off after thesis submission is something that I should do.. I wasn't up to this idea because I thought of doing some reading up and preparing for my oral defense... But, with this idea coming out from my supervisor, it looks like I SHOULD take some time off after thesis submission!!

So, Spore I go since Emirates is having promo now.. AUD400 for a return tix... It's damn cheap ok?? Even cheaper than the budget airlines... I'm grinning ear to ear now.. Wait till I book the ticket.. I think my mouth will be an inch bigger... hahaaaa

Rise & Shine....

Up again at 6am this morning.. Instead of touching up the slides, I watched the final 30 mins ManU vs Wolsberg (hope i spelt it right) championsleague match.. Loving the Carrick's goal.. =))))

Anyway, lab meeting is over and I'm now half awake walking around in the lab.. As usual, more confusion after the meeting.. But am really thankful for their interpretation of my bizarre results.. I need some sleep desperately....

Guess I should head home now..... Honours is ending soon... Just like tat....
